This electroacoustic performance will create soundworlds for introspection and audience reflection by blending acoustic trumpet, electronic music, and deep listening, composed by Greg Hammontree and Nicole Brancato.
Incorporating layers of echo-like audio effects, their music will create space to focus in on present moments and explore the intersection of time, place, and memory. Transmit: Echoes will also feature field recordings and interviews in Queens communities. The resulting music will be ambient, yet reminiscent of classical and jazz styles, and made deeply personal by the field recordings.
Environmental sounds of the surroundings — like birds and people — will be intentionally part of the music. Coupled with the improvisatory nature of the work, the music will be unique to people present and to the moment in which it is performed.
